Finding a support system that works for you is crucial in becoming a non-smoker. It needn't be a lonely, isolated journey which you take by yourself. Whether it be via an online forum, local church group, or through family and friends (exercise caution here), the key is to find people to help you in times of strife.

The online support option is fantastic for those who have limited time in which to establish a local system. By joining up with community forums that host a smoking cessation board, you get the opportunity to speak with others looking to accomplish the same goal you are.

When searching out these forums, be sure to find one that has the differing stages of quitting smoking broken down so that you can go straight to the area which would help you most. Find the posts that coincide with the challenges you are facing at the time and again, you will find that others will have had challenges with the very same issues.

Family and friends, on the other hand, can be a blessing or a curse. They may feel that they are being 'extra' supportive by inquiring repeatedly on how you are doing, but this can become downright irritating and in worst cases, actually cause you to relapse.

Many family members and friends mean well and think they're being encouraging by doing this, when you're going through withdrawal symptoms and are naturally more agitated, this can be detrimental to your success. Sometimes just discussing this with them, before your quit day, can help nip it in the bud and make it a smoother transition.

Another option that a lot of people have found very helpful, is finding a local smoking cessation group. Often these group meetings may be held in a local hospital, at a library, or sometimes they meet at a church. Often you can find these meetings offered for free, or at the very least low cost in most cases.

Community support group meetings generally only last for an hour or so, but they are great place to make personal contact with others striving to become non-smokers. And it is this personal contact with a support buddy that could be just the help you need in staying smoke-free forever.

Although some methods of support are better than others, the important thing is that you have some to begin with - before you quit smoking. For without the support, quitting smoking is going to be one of the hardest tasks you are ever going to do. No sense doing it alone.

More Tips on Stopping Smoking

Just got my electronic smokeless cigarettes today.

Last night I brought it to a club that I sometimes Visit. I was up singing and smoking with the band and the bartender came up to me and told me no smoking allowed. I showed him the electronic smokeless cigarettes and not only did he tell me it was ok to smoke he wanted to know where he could get one. Sometimes he has to go for hours without a cigarette and when he does get a break, he has to go out into the cold Northern winter.

I am not promoting cigarettes, I am a non-smoker, when I use the electronic smokeless cigarette, I use the non-nicotine cartridge, rather than the natural non-tobacco low, medium, or high cartridges that come with the smokeless cigarettes. This is simply a new natural product that someday may replace traditional cigarettes, because it has no smell, it is much safer to the human body doesn't give off an odor to offend people around you, and no second hand smoke.

No Flame No Fire

Additionally there is no flame, no matches, and no fire damage. I remember when I used to smoke and dropping a cigarette in my car. Holes in the car seat, sometimes holes in my clothing, danger of an accident. I never smoked in bed, but we know what can happen, don't we?

Doctor's Agree

I ran into a doctor friend of mine, a cardiologist, and she became very excited about recommending this smokeless cigarettes to some of her patients that can't or won't quit. She is doing a little research on it, as she was wanted to make sure of how it worked and what was in it, for her own peace of mind, before she started recommending it. I let her try it and she loved it. She is a non-smoker too, but after inhaling the water vapors, she agreed it had to at least be the lesser of two evils.

Money Saving Option

If you plan on smoking anyway, this is a great value once you get past the $130.00 cost. The replacement cost of a cartridge is only $3.00 as compared to around $5.00 for a pack of cigarettes. Basically, a savings of $2.00 per day will pay for your smokeless cigarette in around two months. Of course, the bottom-line is, how much is your health worth, not to mention your relationship with family and friends who do not smoke?

If you smoke, or you know someone who smokes, who you worry or complain about, you owe it to yourself to check smokeless cigarettes out.

My friend Bill, who is a lifelong smoker, tested the smokeless cigarettes after dinner, right at the dinner table with my permission, and he loved it. He had no desire to have a traditional cigarette.

Once again, I do not encourage smoking, I don't recommend you purchase this product because you want to start, what I am saying is if you can't or don't want to stop, this could be a great alternative.
