Conversely, nicotine inhalers allow an individual to obtain a dose anytime they feel a craving, which eases the transition from being a smoker to a non-smoker because it mimics the effects of smoking. However, throat and mouth irritation are known side effects of inhalers.
Some individuals like to use natural stop smoking remedies. Some people will place salt on their tongues when they feel the craving for a cigarette. A remedy like this one mirrors the theory of behaviorism, which states that people are capable of being trained to react in certain ways. By placing the salt on their tongues, these people will begin associating the smoking urge with the unpleasant salt taste, thus helping them to quit smoking.
When quitting smoking, it is an important to drink plenty of water. Smokers also can try drinking a mixture of celery and carrot juice which will minimize the craving for nicotine. Smokers can also be helped by exercise which will keep them preoccupied and will release relaxing, natural endorphins.
In order for any stop smoking remedies to work, individuals must stay true to their goal. They need to have the will and the honest desire to move past the addiction. Quitting completely must be a high priority. It is a hard habit to overcome, but eventually with dedication, the urge to smoke will cease.
